Eight people in socially vulnerable situations, three adults and five children, were baptized on August 29 at the Christ the Redeemer Sanctuary, in Rio de Janeiro. The participants live in communities in the North and South zones and the central region of the city, and are attended by the Our Lady of Childbirth Women's Care Center.
The ceremony was held at the feet of Christ the Redeemer. The center, which follows up with families, is part of the actions of the Sustainable Christ Consortium, formed by the Archdiocesan Christ the Redeemer Sanctuary, by the Social Work East One (O Sol), and by the Redemptor Institute.
According to the rector of the sanctuary, Father Omar, the care includes social and family reintegration actions. He stated that participation in religious life is also part of this follow-up.
The Christ the Redeemer Sanctuary made its facilities available for the holding of the baptisms.
