The Consórcio Cristo Sustentável and the Grupo de Apoio Viver Melhor (GAVIME) held a seminar on Friday (28th) at the Radisson Barra da Tijuca Hotel in Rio de Janeiro on addressing violence against women. The event marked the end of Lilac August and took place in the year when the Maria da Penha Law celebrates its 20th anniversary.
The seminar featured a round table that brought together specialists from various fields. Delegate Viviane Costa, head of the DEAM in Jacarepaguá, Commander Glória Maria Bastos Barreto, responsible for the Maria da Penha Patrol of the Rio Municipal Guard, and psychologist and psychoanalyst Lusanir Carvalho discussed care and protection for women victims of violence. Judge Renata Gil, Director of International Affairs at the Superior Electoral Court, presented the legal aspects of violence against women with related cases.
Among the audience were women assisted by the Nossa Senhora do Parto Women's Assistance Center, as well as project volunteers and GAVIME guests. The Nossa Senhora do Parto Center is part of the group's actions aimed at women in vulnerable situations.
The Consórcio Cristo Sustentável is formed by the Christ the Redeemer Sanctuary, the Obra Social Leste Um (O Sol), and the Instituto Redemptor, entities that work together to promote social actions in the city.
