Israeli minister presents plan to expel 250 thousand Palestinians from Gaza in one year and send them abroad

Israel's National Security Minister, Itamar Ben Gvir, presented on Thursday a plan to remove Palestinians from the Gaza Strip and send them abroad. A member of the far-right party Jewish Power, he proposed expelling 250,000 Palestinians from Gaza in one year, in a project with a strong electoral character ahead of the general elections on October 27 in Israel.

According to the plan, the approximately 2 million remaining inhabitants of this territory devastated by the war between Israel and the Islamist group Hamas would leave the region over the following six years. Ben Gvir declared that the plan is "realistic" and stated that it is necessary to encourage the emigration of Gaza's inhabitants.

The minister is a member of Israel's governing coalition and frequently criticized abroad for his extremist positions. The article also mentions that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that Israeli troops will not leave Gaza, where more than 900 Palestinians have been killed.
