Notícias de Coimbra3 September 2026 at 19:50

The Beira Baixa Line has a confirmed date to reopen. Railway circulation on the affected section will be restored shortly, allowing the complete resumption of services on the line.

The reopening of the section will allow CP – Comboios de Portugal to restore Regional and Intercidade services along the entire extent of the Beira Baixa Line, reestablishing the connections that were suspended.

Passengers will thus be able to use the complete railway connections between the stations served by this line, which crosses several localities in the Beira Baixa region.

Volkswagen supervisory board approves restructuring plan to cut 50,000 jobs

Volkswagen's supervisory board unanimously approved the "Future Plan 2030", a comprehensive transformation plan that foresees cutting approximately 50,000 positions across the group, including management roles, and the closure of four factories in Germany. The plan is based on three pillars: optimization of production costs, portfolio redefinition with a focus on higher profitability segments, and synergies between the group's brands. The company justifies the measures with growing global competitive pressure, changes in demand patterns, and technological transformations in the automotive industry, also intending to reduce the car range by 50% by 2035.
