OpenAI announced on Thursday (3) the launch of GPT-6 Astra, its new frontier artificial intelligence. The model raised concerns among cybersecurity experts due to the use of a reasoning technique called "recurrent depth," which makes the machine's reasoning process more opaque.
According to OpenAI's own data, the new model achieved exceptional results on industry-standardized tests, including 97.6% on FrontierMath Tier 4, 98.6% on ARC-AGI and 100% on ExploitBench, almost acing the sector's main evaluations.
GPT-6 Astra was developed to compete directly with Anthropic's Fable 5.1, presented on Tuesday. Like its rival, OpenAI's model has scientific work as one of its main focuses.
In addition to scientific research, the new model also targets professional applications, including game development, financial services, data analysis, design engineering and business intelligence.
