Al-Hilal announces signing of Gabriel Martinelli, former Arsenal

oglobo3 September 2026 at 17:39

Al-Hilal announced on Thursday the signing of striker Gabriel Martinelli, formerly of Arsenal. The Saudi club reached an agreement with the Brazilian player for 70 million euros, which corresponds to approximately R$ 421 million at the current exchange rate. Martinelli, 25 years old, leaves English football after seven seasons wearing the Arsenal shirt.

The Brazilian was not in the plans of manager Mikel Arteta for the remainder of the season and was not even called up for Arsenal's first three official games of the 2026/27 season. This situation opened the way for Al-Hilal to make an offer and become the only club capable of convincing Martinelli to leave English football.

In seven seasons at Arsenal, Martinelli played 278 games, scored 62 goals and provided 34 assists. The Brazilian striker won important titles during his time at the English club, including the Premier League, the FA Cup and the Community Shield.
