Cordel literature, repente, woodcut engraving and other expressions of Brazilian popular culture will have a dedicated space at the 28th International Book Biennial of São Paulo. The event takes place from September 4 to 13, at Anhembi District, in the city of São Paulo.
The "Espaço Cordel e Repente" will be integrated into the 11 thematic spaces of the Biennial, bringing together authors and artists of these traditional cultural manifestations. The initiative seeks to give visibility to these forms of expression that are part of Brazilian cultural heritage.
The biennial is one of the main literary events in Brazil and in the world, bringing together publishers, authors, illustrators and readers in a single space. This year, the inclusion of the Cordel and Repente Space represents a recognition of the importance of popular literature in the cultural formation of the country.
