Storm Kristin, which occurred on 28 January, caused power outages in the municipality of Leiria, leaving thousands of people without water supply.
The Municipal Water and Sanitation Services of Leiria (SMAS) were particularly affected, as the power failure also compromised the telemanagement system of these entities.
In response to this situation, SMAS de Leiria announced plans to purchase generators, in order to ensure the operation of services during future power outages.
Additionally, an investment in communications is planned, a measure aimed at strengthening the response capacity and management of municipal services in emergency situations.
