Jacob Kiplimo's half marathon world record, set in Lisbon, was finally ratified by World Athletics. The Ugandan had completed the race in 57 minutes and 20 seconds, setting a new world record at the distance.
The ratification of the record happened some time after the race held in the Portuguese capital, in a usual process by the entity that governs world athletics.
This record by Kiplimo has since been surpassed by another athlete. Yomif Kejelcha achieved an even faster time, completing the half marathon in 56 minutes and 51 seconds, thus breaking the Ugandan's mark.
