The Portuguese Tax Authority proceeded with the payment of 2.660 million euros in income tax refunds to taxpayers. This amount represents a significant milestone in the personal income tax settlement campaign.
The average amount of each refund stood at 980 euros, which gives an indication of the typical value that Portuguese taxpayers received back after the annual tax settlement.
Compared to the previous campaign, there was an increase of 92,128 in the number of declarations that resulted in a refund. This growth in the number of refunds reflects greater tax compliance or changes in the tax situations of taxpayers.
The data shows that a substantial portion of Portuguese taxpayers ended the income tax settlement process with the right to receive money from the State, highlighting the importance of this fiscal mechanism for families.
