Greek and Argentine win Tango World Cup in Buenos Aires; video

Lucas Gauto and Naima Gerasopoulou were crowned world champions in the Tango Salon category at the 2026 World Tango Championship held in Buenos Aires. The two met a decade ago at the very Buenos Aires Tango Festival and World Championship, when they experienced what the article describes as "tango at first sight."

Lucas is Argentine, from Córdoba, while Naima is Greek, born in Europe. The two maintained a romantic relationship for a few years, but that love ended. However, their love for dance remains, and the duo continues to perform regularly in the Tango Salon category.

Naima discovered tango during free classes at the university where she studied in Greece. She went on to win a tango competition in her home country, which motivated her to travel to Buenos Aires a decade ago to participate in the festival, where she met Lucas.
