LaLiga punishes Castellón again: three of the first four away games on weekdays

El Periódico Mediterráneo - General3 September 2026 at 15:50

With the modifications introduced by Javier Tebas in the schedule distribution several seasons ago, most clubs are destined to play more than one match on Fridays or Mondays throughout the championship. However, as almost always happens, there are clubs and fans who end up suffering much more than others. One of the clearest examples is that of CD Castellón, which already experienced last year what it means to go more than a month and a half without playing a home match on a Saturday or Sunday.

Now, according to the publication, three of the four first away games of the team are during the week, which again puts the club in a disadvantageous situation compared to its opponents. This circumstance further aggravates the experience of Castellón's supporters, who already faced significant difficulties in the previous season.

The scheduling policy implemented by Tebas has been the target of criticism from various clubs, which claim that the distribution of matches is not equitable and that some teams suffer disproportionate consequences. CD Castellón thus becomes a paradigmatic case of the inequalities created by this scheduling model.
