The Spanish Film Academy announced which films were pre-selected to represent Spain at the 2027 edition of the Oscar. The three chosen films are "El ser querido", by Rodrigo Sorogoyen; "La bola negra", by Javier Ambrossi and Javier Calvo; and "Los domingos", by Alauda Ruiz de Azúa. These three productions will compete to advance as Spain's official candidate for the most important cinema awards.
Director Rodrigo Sorogoyen is responsible for "El ser querido", while the duo Javier Ambrossi and Javier Calvo signed the direction of "La bola negra". For its part, Alauda Ruiz de Azúa is the filmmaker of "Los domingos", thus completing the trio of films that will try to represent the country at the awards.
The decision on which film will be the official representative of Spain will be announced on September 16. After this choice, the winning production will still need to go through a new selection phase to verify if it can reach the 99th edition of the Oscar awards.
