The aviation sector made an appeal to the European Union to reduce regulation over the next ten years. During an event organized by the International Air Transport Association in Lisbon, sector representatives requested that the demands imposed on airlines be limited.
Among the main requests is the reduction of the scope of the emissions trading system, known as ETS. The sector argues that current climate rules are too complex and make it difficult for aviation companies to operate.
The representatives also asked that the technical problems of the new EU border control system, the Entry/Exit System, be resolved. This system has faced delays and implementation difficulties since its announcement.
The appeal comes at a time when the European aviation sector is facing growing challenges related to environmental sustainability and increasing regulatory demands from European authorities.
