SAPO Notícias3 September 2026 at 12:00

Smart shopping carts equipped with screens and Artificial Intelligence are starting to appear in supermarkets, no longer being science fiction but becoming a reality in Portugal. Although they are not yet the norm, their presence is growing in the retail sector. Trump administration supports OpenAI in lawsuit against New York Times

The Trump administration officially supported OpenAI in a lawsuit against the New York Times, filing a 20-page document with the federal court in New York arguing that the use of copyrighted content to train artificial intelligence models does not violate the law, invoking reasons of "scientific progress," economic growth, and "national security." The U.S. government argues that a restrictive interpretation of copyright would constitute an obstacle to competition and harm the U.S. position in the AI race. The New York Times, which filed the action nearly three years ago estimating damages of "several billion dollars," criticized the administration's position for siding with "million-dollar companies" at the expense of content creators.

Waze will finally allow choosing the starting point. But there are more new features

Waze received a global update that introduces several new features in the navigation app. The main novelty is the ability to choose any starting point to plan trips, even without being physically at the location. The update also includes a "Less Talkative" voice mode, which reduces instructions while driving, and "Map Mate," a voice assistant that allows communicating alerts in natural language. The app will also start considering the user's previous routes to suggest more personalized routes, and adds new types of local hazards, such as narrow bridges and lane changes. Among the trend's participants are ex-BBBs like Beatriz Reis and Gabi Martins, as well as influencers, actors, and presenters, who share the content on social media simulating a new look.
