Farense requested the postponement of the II Liga match against Desportivo de Chaves, scheduled for Sunday, due to a viral outbreak affecting several players in the squad. The request began being prepared on Wednesday and has already been sent to the Portuguese Professional Football League, with a decision expected during the same day.
The training session scheduled for that morning was cancelled, at a time when several footballers are presenting symptoms such as fever, diarrhea, and vomiting. According to a source from Farense's SAD, the squad "does not meet" the conditions to play the match, scheduled for São Luís Stadium in Faro, at 14:00.
The viral condition began still last week, before the match against Sporting B counting for the fourth round of II Liga, which the Algarve side lost 2-1. André Candeias, Farense's winger, was left out of that match and the symptoms have been spreading to various athletes who are under medical supervision.
Farense, managed by José Faria, occupies fifth place in the II Liga football league, with seven points, having earned two wins, one draw, and one defeat.
