The Museum of Contemporary Art (MAC) in Niterói celebrates 30 years of operation. Inaugurated on September 2, 1996, the museum is a white structure designed by architect Oscar Niemeyer, which appears to float over Guanabara Bay, with a shape reminiscent of a flying saucer. The cultural venue has become one of the main symbols of the city.

To mark the occasion, MAC opened to the public, starting Saturday, three exhibitions that explore different aspects of its history and collection. The special program also includes educational activities and attractions for children throughout the entire month.

The first exhibition, called "MAC monumental," is installed in the Central Hall and brings together approximately 130 large-format works from the museum's own collection and the João Sattamini collection. Many of these pieces had not been presented to the public in years and now gain new visibility.
