The Behavioral Addictions Center (AdCom) of the Hospital Gregorio Marañón, in the Community of Madrid, revealed the typical profile of the adult patient who visits the service. This profile corresponds to a man, with an average age of about 38 years, and with gambling-related problems.
Men represent 78% of the adults treated at this center in Madrid. Gambling emerges as the main reason for consultation, being present in 41% of cases treated by AdCom.
Within the group of patients with gambling problems, eight in ten are men. Furthermore, in 70% of cases, access to gambling is done through the internet, which highlights the role of digital platforms in this type of behavioral addiction.
