The special exam season for secondary education starts today (3) with over 43 thousand students enrolled, running until Tuesday (8). This season is open to all eligible students for the 2nd phase exams.

The Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation (MECI) states that students who took exams in the 2nd phase in July and also in the special season may apply to the 2nd phase of access to higher education with the best grade obtained between the two. Applications run until 20 September, with 6,639 places available, and the results will be announced on 30 September.

The special season was created following the technical difficulties recorded in the electronic grading of secondary school exams, which prevented some students from knowing their grades in a timely manner and may have affected the registration, completion, or preparation for the 2nd phase exams.

Portuguese is the subject with the most enrolments, totalling 9,403, followed by Mathematics A with 8,324 and Physics and Chemistry A with 6,674. Today, at 9:30, the exams for Portuguese, Portuguese as a Second Language, and Portuguese as a Non-Native Language for 12th grade take place, while for 11th grade, Portuguese Literature exams are scheduled at 9:30 and Latin, Economics A, and History of Culture and the Arts at 14:00.
