Nurse from Porto de Mós is one of three deputy directors of the School of Health Sciences of Leiria

The inauguration ceremony of director Rui Fonseca Pinto and the acceptance of office of the three deputy directors: Maria dos Anjos Dixe, Inês Lopes and Hugo Duarte, took place on August 11, in the Acts Hall of the School of Health Sciences of the University of Leiria and Oeste (ESSLei.ULO). Hugo Duarte is a nurse from Ribeira de Cima, in Porto de Mós, having been reappointed to the position he had held since May 2024.

Hugo Duarte is responsible for the Laboratory Resources department and Campus 5 – Health Innovation Hub of ESSLei. During the ceremony, the nurse highlighted that the works carried out allowed the requalification of several laboratories and the Health Simulation Center, as well as investment in clinical and digital equipment, aiming to improve innovative teaching methodologies and clinical practices for future health professionals.

Hugo Duarte is an adjunct professor at ESSLei.ULO, specialist in Medical-Surgical Nursing in the area of Nursing of the Person in Critical Situation. He is also a collaborating member of the Center for Innovative Care and Health Technology of ULO and is part of the Regional Nursing Council of the Central Regional Section of the Order of Nurses.
