In recent decades, the European automotive industry has consistently dominated the market, treating the road as its own territory. However, in recent years, the sector has been facing significant difficulties that threaten this privileged position.
European car production is expected to fall for the third consecutive year, showing a prolonged crisis that affects the entire sector. This decline is supported by multiple factors that accumulate simultaneously, making the situation particularly complex for manufacturers.
One of the main challenges relates to the transition to electric vehicles, which is far from uniform among different European manufacturers. This irregularity in adaptation creates competitive asymmetries between companies in the sector, making a cohesive response to technological change more difficult.
International competition has become more aggressive, further pressuring European manufacturers at a time of vulnerability. Although a recovery is expected for 2027, it will be modest, suggesting that the sector will still face a long and challenging road ahead.
