The average price of milk purchased from individual producers fell in June to 0.447 euros per kilogram, the lowest value recorded at least since the beginning of this year. This decline represents a new low for the dairy sector during this period.
The data supporting this analysis was collected by the Planning, Policies and General Administration Office, the body responsible for monitoring agricultural sector indicators in Portugal.
The downward trend in farmgate milk prices comes in a context of pressure on producers, who face high production costs while the values received for the raw material continue to decline.
This movement contrasts with the higher values practiced in the previous months of the year, indicating a reversal in the price trajectory that directly affects the profitability of milk producers.
