The vinyl DJ fever is conquering Rio's nightlife with new establishments that have the format as the main attraction. Frisson, opened in the first week of August in Botafogo, operates in a 1938 mansion and has been packed since its inauguration, offering a dance floor and a record shop on the mezzanine. Another recently opened venue is Escuta, also in Botafogo, a three-story bar with the motto "hungry ears and curious bodies" that already has a line at the door.
These two bars represent the new wave of Rio establishments dedicated to vinyl DJing. The phenomenon varies in environment: there are sidewalk parties in Saúde with beer served in plastic cups, to more comfortable spaces like one with Japanese food in Copacabana. The rain didn't hinder the movement in these places, which continue to attract crowds even on unfavorable nights.
The vinyl revivalist movement in Rio is not limited to new specialized bars. The city is also gaining new gastronomic options, such as the Italian restaurant Piano, from Grupo Clan, which opened in Leblon, showing how the city's nightlife and culinary scene continues to expand.
