Argentine football will pay tribute to Lionel Messi with a one-minute applause during matches. The measure was determined by the Argentine Football Association (AFA) as a tribute to the captain of the Albiceleste, who announced his retirement from the Argentine national team this Monday.

Messi, at 39 years old, thus ends his glorious international career with the Argentine national team. The legendary number 10 leaves a legacy of achievements and records with the national team.

The tribute takes place during the next round of matches of all categories of Argentine football, men's and women's. According to a statement from the AFA, the one-minute pause is "a recognition of Lionel Messi's career with the Argentine National Team."

Additionally, Argentine stadiums that have scoreboards will also display tributes to the star during the matches.
