Analysis: Flamengo ends asterisk on the table playing what's necessary against Mirassol and closing in on the lead

Flamengo beat Mirassol 2-0 at Maracanã, with goals from Carrascal and Lucas Paquetá, in a makeup match from the 4th round of the Brazilian Championship. The team coached by Leonardo Jardim didn't need to put on a great performance to secure victory against an opponent that was close to the relegation zone.

With the result, Flamengo finally equalized the number of games with Palmeiras, both with 25 matches played. The rubro-negro reached 52 points on the table, just one point behind the green-and-white leader.

The game ended the so-called asterisk on the table, which had existed since Flamengo had fewer matches played than the title contenders. Now, with 13 rounds to go in the tournament, the fight for the title became even more intense.
