The economic engine of the city

In April, the PP mayor appeared in the press stating that "tourism is the engine of the city of Castelló," making a rather broad statement. The reality, however, is that tourism represents only 14% of the GDP of the province of Castelló. This means that the tourism sector generates businesses and jobs, but does not have a hegemonic weight in all municipalities of the region. The article concludes that the weight of tourism in Peñíscola is not, by far, the same as in Castelló, suggesting that the generalization made by the mayor does not correspond to the diversified reality of the province.
