The Federal Police explained in a report how it managed to recover messages sent by banker Daniel Vorcaro, owner of Banco Master, to Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court. Vorcaro tried to erase the traces of the dialogues through a strategy that involved writing the texts in the phone's notes app, taking screenshots, sending the images via WhatsApp in "single view" mode and, finally, deleting the screenshot from the photo gallery.
According to the report, a feature of the iPhone 17 Pro's operating system ended up frustrating the banker's plan. The document detailed that, regardless of the form of analysis used, the first step after the seizure of electronic devices is to "break the password" and access the content.
To carry out this task, the Federal Police use specialized software, two of the most well-known being Cellebrite and another tool not fully specified in the article. The forensic examination managed to bypass the concealment strategy used by Vorcaro before his arrest.
