Advertising got more expensive in 2026, and the invoice explains only part of the increase

Since January 1, 2026, Brazilian advertisers have been paying more for ads on Meta. The platform began directly passing on PIS/Cofins (9.25%) and ISS (2.9%) taxes on invoices, totaling an average increase of 12.15% that was previously absorbed by the company itself. In practice, a R$100,000 investment now costs approximately R$112,000 without any changes to campaign parameters.

This tax pass-through, however, is only part of the problem. American consultancy Tinuiti analyzed over 8,000 advertiser accounts and identified a 12% increase in global average CPM (cost per thousand impressions) in the first quarter of this year, compared to the same period in 2025.

In Brazil, the impact is even more intense. The combination of exchange rates, growing local competition, and an increasingly dense ad auction has been pushing costs upward. The Brazilian digital advertising market moved R$42.7 billion in 2025, according to data from Digital Adspend 2026, by IAB Brasil, representing a 12.7% increase from the previous year.

The future cannot be built without the young

Portugal faces a labor contradiction where companies complain about a lack of workers while youth unemployment remains at 18.4% for the 16 to 24 age group, far above the national average of 5.6%. The article argues that young people are essential for the renewal of organizations and intergenerational knowledge transmission, but warns that attracting them is not enough — they need fair salaries, career progression prospects, and stability. With Eurostat projections indicating a 21% reduction in the working-age population by 2050, the country cannot afford to waste talent. The training of young people is presented as an investment, not a cost, with greater collaboration needed between professional associations, companies, and educational institutions to inform students about existing opportunities and retain the professionals Portugal needs.

The Portuguese Navy's armored vehicles represent only 36% of the SAFE program, valued at 133 million euros, a contract signed with Spain. The remaining amount is destined for systems, equipment, operation and fleet sustainment, revealing that the bulk of the investment is associated with infrastructure and logistical support, and not just the armored vehicles themselves.
