Finland investigates possible territorial violation after drone appearance

Expresso2 September 2026 at 23:34

The Finnish authorities are investigating the appearance of a drone on the coast of Porvoo, considering the possibility that a territorial violation may have occurred. Finland's Border Guard confirmed that it is analyzing the circumstances of the incident, without yet officially confirming whether there was effectively an infraction of national borders.

This incident comes at a time of growing concern about European security. Finland thus joins the list of countries that have been registering situations that raise security alerts, in a broader context of tensions on the European continent.

The ongoing investigation aims to determine the origin of the drone and the exact circumstances of its presence in the coastal area of Porvoo, located in the south of the country. Finnish authorities have not yet disclosed further details about the device or about any suspicions regarding its origin.
