SAPO Notícias2 September 2026 at 23:45

The Portuguese international midfielder João Mário signed a permanent contract with AEK, the current Greek football champions. The transfer was confirmed by the Greek club itself.

João Mário had been linked to AEK since last season, having arrived on loan from Turkish side Besiktas. After a year as a loanee, the Greek club has now decided to exercise the purchase option and secure the permanent signing of the Portuguese player.

AEK, the current champions of Greece, thus strengthens their midfield with an experienced player who is also a Portuguese international. This signing represents another change of direction in João Mário's career, which includes stints at various European clubs.
