Trump says Venezuela is not ready for new election, and Delcy Rodríguez guarantees that the election will happen "when the time comes"

The president of the United States, Donald Trump, stated on Wednesday that Venezuela is still not ready to hold elections, nine months after the capture and ousting of Nicolás Maduro by American forces in Caracas. Hours later, Delcy Rodríguez, Venezuela's unelected interim president, responded that the country will only hold elections when it is ready. She stated she is working "tirelessly" to ensure the necessary conditions for the electoral process. Delcy said this alongside the U.S. Secretary of Energy, Chris Wright, who visited Caracas for discussions on the Venezuelan oil sector. She guaranteed there will be an electoral process when the time comes, citing that Venezuela has a Constitution and an established democratic system.
