The state secretariats of Women, of Inclusive Policies and of Education of Rio de Janeiro signed a cooperation agreement to train teachers, managers and professionals from the state school network on the inclusion of students with disabilities. The agreement was signed on Thursday, September 3rd, and the initiative began with teachers in the capital.
The training provides for continuous training in social literacy, combating ableism and guaranteeing rights. The content will be theoretical and practical, preparing professionals to deal with the specificities of the various disabilities and identify situations of ableism, discrimination and prejudice.
The partnership aims to qualify the teaching staff and strengthen the welcoming of students. The proposal also includes adapting learning to the individual needs of students, without compromising pedagogical and social development.
According to the agreement, the secretariats intend to structure integrated actions of awareness-raising and permanent dialogue with education professionals about the inclusion of people with disabilities in state schools.
