Argentine skater intentionally knocked down in Buenos Aires subway and ends up with broken skates

oglobo2 September 2026 at 19:50

Lucas Benítez, 36-year-old Argentine artistic skater and five-time national champion, was assaulted last Tuesday (1st) in a car on Line B of the Buenos Aires subway. The athlete was performing an artistic demonstration to raise funds when a passenger placed one of his feet in his path. Lucas, caught by surprise, tripped and fell to the ground, and the skates he was wearing broke in the fall. Now he needs to buy a new pair.

The incident was reported to the Argentine newspaper La Nación. Benítez explained that he receives no government assistance and has an angioma — a visible, though benign, tumor — on his face, which reduces his vision in his left eye. He has a disability certificate for this condition.
