Patrícia Silva won the Gold Medal in the 1500 meters at the Mediterranean Games held in Taranto 2026. The Portuguese athlete achieved this significant result in the competition that took place in that Italian city.
With this victory, Patrícia Silva joined the group of Portuguese athletics medalists at these Games. José Carlos Pinto was another of the national champions, having won the 5000 meters event.
Omar Elkhatib also reached the top of the podium by winning the 400 meters. Auriol Dongmo contributed to the positive balance of Portuguese athletics by winning gold in the shot put.
The Portuguese athletics team completed their performance with the victory of the women's 4x100 meters relay, which capped off Portugal's medal collection in these events in grand fashion.
