Sicoob exceeded the mark of R$ 1 billion in awarded credits in a single month in consortiums, achieving the record in August with R$ 1 billion distributed across 10,612 quotas. The volume represented a growth of 33% compared to the same month of 2025. The award occurs monthly through draws or bids.
Sicoob's record comes at a time of expansion of the consortium segment in Brazil, driven by high interest rates on traditional credit. According to the Brazilian Association of Consortium Administrators (Abac), the Brazilian consortium system reached its highest number of active participants in July, totaling 13.41 million, an annual increase of 11.4%.
From January to July, the negotiated volume in the sector jumped 22.9%, totaling R$ 331.60 billion. For Itamar Filho, Sicoob's Consortium and Banking Collection Manager, the numbers indicate that Brazilians have started using consortiums as a medium and long-term financial planning tool, and not just as an alternative to traditional credit.
