The University of Coimbra is registering a significant increase in international students, preparing to receive more than 1500 international mobility students at the beginning of the next academic year. The numbers represent a historic record for the institution, which has been investing in internationalization in recent years.

This growth reflects the international recognition of the quality of teaching and research at the University of Coimbra, one of the oldest in Europe. The city has also attracted students for its cultural offerings, affordable cost of living, and privileged geographical location in Portugal.

The university has developed partnerships with higher education institutions from various countries to facilitate academic mobility. Programs such as Erasmus+ have contributed to the increase in foreign student flow, but there has also been significant growth in students coming from countries outside the European Union.

The academic authorities consider this trend positive for the local economy and for the diversification of the academic environment. The university's rector highlighted that the presence of international students enriches the educational experience of all students and strengthens the ties between Portugal and the rest of the world.
