The Portuguese government announced an increase of 100 million euros in the public guarantee for housing credit aimed at young people. This measure aims to facilitate access to home ownership for the young population.
The public guarantee applies exclusively to credit for permanent primary residence. The benefit is limited to young people up to 35 years of age, inclusive, who wish to acquire their primary residence.
The credit contracts covered by this measure will need to be signed until the end of 2026. This temporal condition defines the period during which young people can apply for this support line.
The initiative is part of the government's policies to promote housing access for young people, one of the demographic groups most affected by difficulties in accessing the real estate market.
