The waiting time for the first medical observation of patients classified as urgent at Hospital Professor Doutor Fernando Fonseca, in Amadora-Sintra, reached 10 hours and 52 minutes on Wednesday morning, according to data provided by the National Health Service portal.
According to information consulted at 08:45, patients with yellow wristbands, assigned in triage to cases considered urgent, were waiting almost 11 hours to be seen by a doctor in the general emergency department of this hospital.
The scenario was also one of high pressure at other hospital units in the Lisbon region. At Hospital Garcia de Orta, part of ULS Almada-Seixal, urgent patients were waiting six hours and 39 minutes for their first medical observation at the same time.
At Hospital de Santa Maria, in Lisbon, the waiting time was seven hours and five minutes, while at Hospital Nossa Senhora do Rosário, in Barreiro, patients with yellow wristbands were waiting five hours and 57 minutes.
