The Confraria da Chanfana de Vila Nova de Poiares, in the district of Coimbra, is planning a special event for October with the aim of serving a record amount of chanfana. The organization is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year and intends to mark the occasion in a memorable way.
The main objective is to offer chanfana to all participants who attend the event. The confraternity wants to make history by breaking a record for the quantity served of this traditional Portuguese delicacy.
Chanfana is a typical dish from the Vila Nova de Poiares region, being one of the most well-known gastronomic specialties of the municipality. The Confraria da Chanfana has played an important role in promoting and preserving this traditional recipe over the past two and a half decades.
