The idea for Rio Art Week arose last year, during the last edition of ArtRio — an event that already moves the city and attracts tourists in the month of September. The Rio City Hall decided to take advantage of this time to gather, in the same period, events that go far beyond visual arts.
The programming takes place from September 16 to 27, totaling 12 days of activities spread across various points in the city, with emphasis on Downtown Rio. The event connects different cultural manifestations, including theater, cinema, dance, performance, music, and gastronomy.
