The play "Rita Lee: balada da louca", with Lilia Cabral in the lead role, arrives in Rio de Janeiro starting October 9, at Teatro Prio, at the Jockey Club Brasileiro. The show had a sold-out run in São Paulo and sold-out sessions at the Rio Theater Festival.
Conceived and written by Guilherme Samora based on the singer's second autobiography, the monologue goes over the final years of the queen of Brazilian rock. The direction is by Beatriz Barros.
In the plot, the actress decides to write a sort of diary upon being diagnosed with lung cancer in 2021. Just as in the book "Rita Lee: outra biografia", released in 2023, shortly after her death, the play recounts the challenges faced by the artist in her final days of life in a frank, ironic, and playful manner.
