At 44 years old, the Portuguese singer Patrícia Ribeiro is preparing her autobiography "From Prison to Freedom," a book in which she revisits different phases of her trajectory, from her artistic career to the six years she spent detained in Portugal. The first trans woman to build a professional music career in the country, the artist addresses in the account the decisions she made, the consequences of her actions, and the process of rebuilding life after leaving prison.
Patrícia became famous with the song "Quero Ser Feliz (Preciso de Uma Chance)" (I Want to Be Happy (I Need a Chance)), which caught the attention of the "Big Brother Portugal" participants. The song even gained a choreography created by the reality show contestants. The artist appeared countless times on the iconic Sunday program of SIC Portugal, "Em Festa," and even recorded a song dedicated to the show, included in the CD "Beat Sexy."
During a participation in the program "Em Festa" in 2015, Patrícia received the second gold record of her career. The singer, composer, model, and dancer also recalled her experience in prison, stating that she thanked God for having been arrested, suggesting that the period of detention was transformative in her life.
