Cited in messages, Gonet requests nullification of PF report that details relationship between Vorcaro and Moraes

The Attorney General of Brazil, Paulo Gonet, requested the nullity of the Federal Police report that details the relationship of banker Daniel Vorcaro, former controller of Banco Master, with Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes and with himself. The opinion was sent to Justice André Mendonça, rapporteur of the Master case at the Supreme Court, who had requested the office's position on the findings from the investigation.

According to Gonet, Mendonça's order for the PF to identify the recipient of Vorcaro's messages was made without prior request from the Public Ministry or Federal Police, which renders the procedure invalid for "exceeding the magistrate's competence limits."

The attorney argued that, even if some evidence of irregularity of criminal interest had been found, it would not be up to André Mendonça to further research his colleague Alexandre de Moraes, nor to determine that references to his colleague be investigated in greater detail. Gonet defended that there was an appropriate procedural requirement that should have been followed.
