Rita Freitas was a rising star of European tennis, having reached 8th place in the European ranking at 14 years of age. However, the young athlete couldn't bear the pressure associated with high-level competition and ended up abandoning her sports career at that early stage.
After quitting professional tennis, Rita pursued her studies in the United States and became a young mother, which definitively took her away from the competitive circuit for several years.
At 40 years old, Rita returned to tennis and found success in the veteran tournaments. She regularly participates in World and European Championships, where she has accumulated victories and earned medals.
Throughout her career in the veterans, Rita Freitas won a total of 11 medals in international competitions, demonstrating that her talent for tennis never disappeared, having simply been postponed.
