The rapporteur of the constitutional amendment proposal (PEC) that ends the 6x1 work schedule, Senator Osmar Aziz (PSD-AM), announced he will read his report in the Senate Committee on Constitution and Justice (CCJ) on Wednesday without presenting modifications to the text approved by the Chamber of Deputies. The senator informed that he asked for a "special calendar," such as waiving the mandatory interval, so that the proposal can be voted on in the Senate plenary during Congress's concentrated effort this week.
Aziz stated he believes the matter will be approved by the committee, even in the face of threats from opposition lawmakers to use procedural maneuvers to delay the discussion. According to the rapporteur, the PEC will be the first item on the CCJ's agenda and he expects its approval by the committee.
After receiving representatives from the productive sector, who presented concerns about the proposal, the rapporteur considered it "impossible" to make changes to the text to avoid delays in the legislative process. The 6x1 model provides for six consecutive work days followed by one day of rest.
