The negotiation between Botafogo and Dynamo Moscow had been closed for weeks, with a value of 7 million euros upfront, plus 1 million euros in bonuses. Botafogo found the situation strange because it was similar to what their rival Flamengo experienced with Gonzalo Plata.
The black-and-white club has recent exam records done by the athlete and made its medical department available to Dynamo Moscow to seek clarification. Botafogo strongly disagreed with the diagnosis presented by the Russians, since Matheus Martins had been playing normally in the team's matches.
Currently, Botafogo is studying appropriate measures and is also evaluating suing the Russian club for improperly using the forward's image at the airport and in the Russian press.
