Besides Flamengo's Gonzalo Plata, Matheus Martins will also no longer be signed by Dynamo Moscow, from Russia. The Botafogo forward failed the medical exams conducted by the Russian club and has already returned to the Brazilian club.
The negotiation between Botafogo and Dynamo Moscow had been closed for weeks, with a value of 7 million euros upfront, plus 1 million euros in bonuses. Botafogo found the situation strange because it was similar to what their rival Flamengo experienced with Gonzalo Plata.
The black-and-white club has recent exam records done by the athlete and made its medical department available to Dynamo Moscow to seek clarification. Botafogo strongly disagreed with the diagnosis presented by the Russians, since Matheus Martins had been playing normally in the team's matches.
Currently, Botafogo is studying appropriate measures and is also evaluating suing the Russian club for improperly using the forward's image at the airport and in the Russian press. Matheus Martins is in Russia accompanied by his agent and, until now, has not been contacted by Dynamo Moscow's board.
