Lula will seek distance from Moraes, while other presidential candidates criticize Supreme Court minister

President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva will seek to distance himself from Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Supreme Federal Court (STF), after new revelations about the magistrate's relationship with former banker Daniel Vorcaro, of Banco Master. According to allies heard by the press, the president will act to distance himself from the issue and will avoid addressing the matter publicly, which is a source of wear for the government while the Workers' Party member seeks his fourth term. If questioned, the tendency is for Lula to adopt the discourse that the STF is an independent power and that it is not up to him to interfere in the internal affairs of the Court.

With a different posture, presidential candidates Flávio Bolsonaro (PL), Romeu Zema (Novo) and Augusto Cury (Avante) made public criticisms of Moraes on Tuesday. The statements came after a Federal Police report revealed the suspicion that Daniel Vorcaro received direct guidance from Moraes at the height of the financial institution's crisis.

The messages extracted from the banker's phone show that, during a period of 13 days, Vorcaro asked for the minister's intervention to resolve issues related to Banco Master, which raises questions about the conduct of the STF magistrate.
