José Carlos Pinto won the gold medal in the 5000 meters event at the Mediterranean Games. The 29-year-old Portuguese athlete completed the race in 14 minutes, 41 seconds and 11 hundredths.
In the competition, the Tunisian Mohamed Jhinaoui finished in second place, taking the silver medal. The Moroccan Fouad Messaoudi completed the podium by finishing in third place.
