Coach João Gião was dismissed from the command of Nacional after just four games in charge of the team. The decision was made following a poor start to the season in the Portuguese league.
The Nacional team suffered two consecutive defeats during the short period that João Gião was at the helm. In addition, they managed only one victory in the Portuguese I Liga.
With these results, the leadership of the Madeiran club chose to make a change in the technical command, seeking to reverse the situation in the league standings.
João Gião thus leaves Nacional after one of the briefest tenures in the recent history of the club in the top Portuguese division.
