Flamengo defeated Botafogo 3-0 last Sunday at Maracanã, in a match valid for the Brazilian Championship. The third goal of the match, scored by Colombian player Carrascal at 43 minutes of the second half, was the one that drew the most attention and ended up gaining international repercussion on social media.
The play that originated the goal started with a passing error from Marçal already in the attacking field. Carrascal took advantage of the mistake, passed to Jorginho, who quickly set up Samuel Lino. The forward then combined with Carrascal himself, who received a beautiful heel assist from Everton Cebolinha and finished firmly in the corner of goalkeeper Gabriel Batista, closing the score.
Several foreign profiles on social media praised the quality of the red and black team's play. An international profile defined the play as "the most Brazilian goal in recent times: scandalous." Another profile went so far as to state that Flamengo is superior to teams like Chelsea, Borussia Dortmund, and Atlético de Madrid.
With the victory, Flamengo added three more points to the Brazilian Championship table, maintaining the chase for leader Palmeiras in the competition.
